What is the point of life? What happens when we die?
Is forgiveness possible? Is Jesus relevant to our lives today?
The Alpha Course is an opportunity to explore questions like these. It's relaxed, low key, friendly, fun and free.
Next Central Alpha
Our next Alpha Course will run at Conversations, one of congregations. It starts on 27th January 2010 and runs for six weeks upstairs in Revolution Bar, Coney Street, York (next to City Screen). The time to pray for your friends and to devise creative ways to invite them along is now.

A typical Alpha session
Each session starts with a meal. This is a good time to get to know other people on the course. It's followed by a talk on the topic of the week and then discussion in small groups.
Listen, explore, discuss and discover. You can ask anything! Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile.
Courses The next course is for anyone interested in exploring the Christian faith.
If you're not sure, just come along to the first evening and see what you think. There is no obligation to complete the full course, although many do.
How can I get involved? Here's how you can get involved:
1. Invitefriends, family, neighbours and colleagues of student age to come along to the next course which starts on Wednesday 27th January 2010.
2. Pray for Alpha. Please pray individually and in your Cell groups.
3. PromoteAlpha as much as you can! Collect wallet cards, posters and postcards and distribute them to to the people that you know. Check out the e-invitations on www.alphafriends.org

Alpha and Cells
Two more cell groups have recemtly completed their first Alpha courses. People who took part told of genuine change in their lives through exploring their faith. Another group is already planning to run a course - would you like to consider it for your group?
You have several choices:
1. Run a course in your group. You need to start thinking and praying about it now to give yourselves time to plan properly.
2. Host a table at a Central Alpha Course in the Belfrey Hall. Bring your guests with you and look after them through the evening.
3. Serve a Central Alpha Course setting up the hall, in the kitchen and clearing up afterwards. The 'behind-the-scenes team' is vital to the smooth running of each evening.
4. Pray regularly for the Alpha Team, receive the weekly updates and commit to giving some time each week to support the course in prayer.
5. Could your cell act as a host group for people leaving Alpha? Willing to multiply? Many who complete Alpha want to stay with their small group - a nurturing cell could be just the right place for them.
